After working at Daicolo Corporation and Outside Directors Company, Goshima currently freelances producing videos, CD-ROMs, and illustrations. He started producing movies and moving images when he was a student. Goshima won the Multimedia Challenge '95 Encourage Prize for "3 o'clock p.m." (video, 1995). The original FADE into WHITE (video, 1996) was introduced by Image Forum at film festivals throughout the world. A reworked version of FADE into WHITE was awarded the Apple Dream CM Contest Grand Prix. FADE into WHITE #2 (video, 2000) won the Image Forum Festival 2000 Grand Prize. FADE into WHITE #3 (video, 2001) is his third and latest addition to the series.
FADE into WHITE #3, structured around a unique time axis, reminds the viewer about the process of thought. The artist's explicit intentions are decidedly felt through the original expression of time, austere colors, and visual composition. In the world of computer graphics, where technical ability is the single focus of evaluation, this work is unquestionably unique and one-step removed from its antecedents. To procure a place for computer graphics as a legitimate artistic medium, we need to place a much higher value on works like this one.
