File Under Subjectivity
Cathryn QUAIL
This video work examines how truth emerges from the gaps between subjectivity and objectivity. To explore this theme visually, the artist uses documentary footage of a series of riots that occurred in the Brixton district of London in the 1980s. This work, which might be deemed a video essay, attempts to verify the facts, narratives, and reality surrounding the stories in the video medium, rather than exploring the relationship between the material and the artist.
