This wearable object emits heat and slowly swells up when the user gets within five centimeters of a person or object. It was inspired by the artist’s emotional reaction to the city of Seattle. The device attempts to reinforce the contradictory feelings of being close but distant at the same time. While on the one hand a wondrous detection tool, it also protects the wearer from approaching objects and the surrounding environment.
