“Variegation”
Carolyn ANGLETON
The piece maps variegation effects in camellia cultivars to examine links between biological color formation and molecular processes. Us- ing bacteria inoculated into petri dishes, these flower patterns are then reformulated by a sec- ond organism. This work spans both an artistic and scientific research-based practice, and is situated within the modern "biohacking" move- ment.
