Box with the Air of Its Own Making
Gottfried HAIDER
The work interprets the air cushions used in Amazon shipping boxes as environmental samples of the company’s warehouses. The artist, who was interested in the fact that online shopping prevents him from ever seeing the persons who assemble his orders, realized that air cushions are inflated in the very place the workers box the goods and decided to collect the air they exhale from over ten warehouses in the US, to run scientific lab tests on their gaseous contents.
