L’amant

TAKAHAMA Kan

[Japan]

The world’s first manga adaptation of Marguerite DURAS’s autobiographical French novel and international bestseller L’Amant (The Lover, 1984). In French Indochina, 1929, a poor girl attending a French girls’ school has an eye on a young Chinese man’s fortune when they begin their affair, but the two soon grow closer than anticipated. The work is entirely in color, with gentle lines and tones that illustrate their wavering hearts.
