Abandoned by his father while on pilgrimage in Tibet, young Dawa trains at the Senge Monastery with Dorje and others to become an artist-monk. Even as he learns of his father’s love and the love of those around him, trouble begins to stir for Tibet in the 1950s. The artist’s visits to Tibet and experience illustrating pictorial maps over the years inform the detailed renditions of monastery life. A story of love and faith in an era of crisis.
