Inspired by hermit crabs, the work consists of passive attachment modules, defined as “mechanical shells,” and wheeled robots that dock to the shells. The robot’s motion can be extended and converted by connecting to shells with various mechanisms, such as vertical motion, fan-type, and car-type. The application is envisioned to include physical space organization, digital data physicalization, and entertainment.
